Types of Dangerous Dogs

The Pit Bull, Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier were bred from English Bulldogs to bull-bait larger creatures like bulls and bears by biting them in the face or head.

After the sport was forbidden in the mid-1800s, people turned the dogs against one other and bred them with smaller, faster breeds like terriers to make them more athletic.

Today, pit bulls cause most U.S. dog attacks. Damaged dogs are bred to be guard dogs or used in unlawful dogfighting and are rarely loved.
